As literacy is a vital part of the Curriculum in school, and life and work outside school, extra help is available through small group work to those pupils who experience difficulty in this area. The aims of the scheme are mastery of basic literacy skills and the development of an understanding of the written and spoken English at word level, sentence level and text level.
Pupils who have difficulty with basic numeracy are also helped during team teaching on a withdrawal basis.
